Turning ARRIVE AI on and off

5 min read Updated August 4, 2026Last reviewed August 4, 2026

Every ARRIVE AI feature can be switched off, and the switches are in one place: Settings → AI.

There are three layers, and each one can only ever take something away.

The three switches

Use ARRIVE AI in this organization — the master switch, at the top of the panel. Turning it off hides every AI feature for everyone in your organization, whatever any individual has chosen for themselves.

Everyone — one switch per feature, for the whole organization.

Me — one switch per feature, for you alone.

Each of the six features has its own Everyone and Me pair: Daily briefing, Recommendations, Insights, Ask bar, Workspace assistants and Report summaries.

How the three layers combine

A feature is available to you only when all of these are true: ARRIVE AI is available to your organization, the master switch is on, the feature's Everyone switch is on, and your own Me switch is on.

That ordering matters in one direction only. A personal preference can narrow what your organization allows. It can never re-enable something your organization has switched off. This is not a rule that someone has to remember to apply — the three layers are combined in a way that cannot express "on" once any layer above says "off".

The same is true of availability. ARRIVE AI becomes available to your organization once it is verified and on an active plan. Until then, changing a switch changes nothing that is on screen.

Everything starts on

Both the organization-wide switches and your personal ones default to on. A switch you have never touched is on.

When your own switch is locked

If your organization has switched a feature off, your Me switch for it becomes inactive and tells you why rather than just greying out. You will see one of:

Your organization has turned this off for everyone. An organization admin can turn it back on.

If you are the one who can change it, the message names the control that will actually fix it:

ARRIVE AI is off for this organization. Turn on “Use ARRIVE AI in this organization” above to use it yourself.

You’ve turned this off for everyone. Switch “Everyone” back on to use it yourself.

The master switch outranks the per-feature one, so while it is off that is the message you get — flipping Everyone back on first would change nothing.

Where the switches are enforced

On ARRIVE's servers, not in your browser.

They are checked in two places, and both matter:

  • Before anything is generated. While a feature is switched off, no request is made and nothing new is produced — including from a browser tab left open from before the switch was flipped.
  • When earlier output is read back. A switched-off feature does not hand back what it produced earlier either. It simply is not there.

If the check cannot be completed for any reason, the feature is hidden. "We could not tell" never resolves to "show it".

Switching a feature back on restores access.

What a switched-off feature looks like

It disappears. There is no greyed-out card and no prompt to turn it back on — someone made that decision deliberately, and explaining it back to them on every page would be nagging.

The one exception is the state where ARRIVE AI is not yet available to your organization at all. That stays visible and explains itself, because it is a plan state rather than a choice, and hiding it would hide the reason.

Who can change what

  • Your own "Me" preference is always yours. Any active member can change their own, and it needs no permission beyond being a member.
  • The master switch and the "Everyone" switches are shown to members with AI administration permission. Saving one also requires permission to edit the organization; if you do not have it, the save is refused with a message saying so rather than appearing to work.
  • If you cannot administer AI, the panel tells you plainly: "These are your own preferences. An organization admin controls what is available to everyone."

Settings are configuration, not the feature

You can open Settings → AI and set your preferences even if ARRIVE AI is not yet available to your organization. The controls work; they are saved now and take effect when the feature becomes available. The panel says so above the switches.

What happens to content ARRIVE AI has already generated

Switching a feature off stops new generation. It is a separate question from what happens to output that already exists — including whether it can be deleted, and what to do about a data-protection or erasure request.

That is covered in full, with the exact commitments ARRIVE can and cannot make, in ARRIVE AI: what it does, how to switch it off, and what it keeps. Read that one before relying on a switch to remove anything.

What this does not do yet

  • There is no per-member override that an admin can set on someone else's behalf. The Me switch belongs to that person.
  • There is no scheduled or temporary switch-off — a switch stays where you put it.
  • Two admins saving different settings at the same moment can overwrite each other's change. If a switch is not where you expect, reload the page and set it again.
